I loved the work by ELECTRONOOBS so much, I re-mixed the ball and eliminated a bunch of parts to bring the BOM way down. I swapped out the power switch for a Metal Ball Tilt Switch SW-520D - the current draw from the OLED and Arduino might be just above its rated limit, but hey you only live once. I didn't bother with a boost converter since the Arduino 5V variant runs on the 18650 directly, which might not be the best way to do it, but it works. I used an Arduino Pro Mini with an ATmega328 that I programmed using the ISP - getting rid of the boot loader makes it boot faster and uses less memory. The top and bottom half screw together.
