Digital Hourglass Timer
prusaprinters

This is my entry for the timekeepers contest and it's a digital hourglass timer for 1 hour, 15 minutes, and 5 minutes. I thought up this idea as being a neat little way of timing myself for studying with the 1 hour study and 15 minute rest. The 5 minute timer I added for making tea. There is a lot of room for improvement for this project but I had a fun time making it.

What you'll need if you want to make this other than the 3D printed parts are:

Wires

2 M3x20 screw

A battery

On/Off switch

3 Buttons

Arduino Nano

LED strip (16 pixels used for this project)

The wiring for the Arduino Nano is as follow:

RST wired to D2 (this was done because it was the only way I was able to get the code to work)

Battery wired to On/Off switch and to VIN and GND

Buttons wired to D3, D4, D5

LED strip wired to D6 and 5V

The ground for the buttons and led strip are wired together, as seen in the picture, and wired to the other GND pin (I ran out of black wire so some of the ground wires are yellow)

Some notes on the construction:

I used hot glue to hold the button holder in place as well as hot glued the battery in place

There's holes on the hourglass figure to pass the wires in to hide them from sight
