Digital Flower 3D Sculpture

Digital Flower 3D Sculpture

This is just a desktop ornament for math enthusiasts. You might even want to keep the code next to it or something, because it's so fascinating that a pretty object can be completely designed by roughly 20 lines of code. I wrote this in one night and printed it overnight as a fun activity. Coding this was an absolute thrill. This takes a while to render, and I wish OpenSCAD had better feedback about the rendering process. You can easily make the flower more elaborate by changing some numbers in the poem (flower.scad), but OpenSCAD might take a few days to render the model if you raise numbers too high. I really hope someone is inspired by this, and I think this type of sculpture (where the code is shared, short and fun to read) is a great cross between math, geometry, programming, and art. I don't know what numbers I used, so the photos show a customized model. Enjoy! Print Settings Printer: Craftbot Plus Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: .3 mm Infill: 20% Notes: 2 shells, I used 20% for the black and clear one in the photos. Of course, pick whatever scale you want and can handle!
