Diffuser for 2020 profile desk lamp
thingiverse
I'm excited to build one of GadgetMind's desk lamps and I plan on using strips of SMD5630 LEDs. Having used them on my printer, I know I'll want a diffuser to improve light quality. This is my first hack at it and a placeholder for future mods as I build the lamp. It should be printed in white - this initial cut has a 3mm lens thickness that worked well with the one I did for my printer. 2018.02.19 Update: I printed a copy of this and it was a bit too tight slipping over the head, also a little too thick. The new version is 2mm thick with .2mm more relief on the inner perimeter. After printing a copy of this new version, depending on how well it fits and stays on, I might put some structure on the ends to keep it from sliding off. 2018.02.22 Update: I added tabs on the end and printed it out - it works great! Still waiting for the rest of the parts, but I'll post a pic when it's all assembled. I switched out my PEI sheet for a new one, which is not as good - ended up printing at 8% infill to keep the ends from peeling up. I'll have to see how diffuse the light is once I get my LEDs in. 2018.03.16 Update: I ordered some COB LEDs that are 200mm long, so I uploaded a stretched head and diffuser with space for the bulb set to be 205mm long - which will be a tight fit but should encase the new COB LEDs. My bed is 220x220, so I should just have enough room on the diagonal to print it. If not, there'll be another version split in the middle to glue together.
