Dieu hindou Ganeça

This statue represents Ganeça, or Ganesh, a deity of the Hindu pantheon. His worship is extremely popular throughout Southeast Asia. Recognizable by his elephant head and child's body, he is considered the god who eliminates obstacles but also the god of wisdom, education, and prudence. This partial Ganeça, standing at 1m30 tall, originates from Vietnam. It was sculpted in high relief using pink sandstone. The back of the statue remains untreated, leading us to assume it was attached to a wall, possibly within a chapel dedicated solely to him. Inventory number: 543. This item comes from the collections of the Hebres Museum in Saint-Clément de Rochefort (17 - France). View its information on our online database.
