Diana and Doe at The Jardin des Tuileries, Paris
myminifactory
In ancient Roman mythology, Diana was the powerful goddess of the hunt, the moon, and childbirth. She was a fierce protector of wild animals and woodland, able to talk to and control them with ease. Equated with the Greek goddess Artemis, yet originating independently in Italy, Diana's worshippers revered her as a guardian of fertility and women's rights. In Dianic Wicca, a feminist form of the practice named after her, she was celebrated as the virgin goddess of childbirth. Alongside Minerva and Vesta, the three maiden goddesses swore never to marry. Diana was deeply connected to oak groves, which held special significance for her. According to myth, Diana and her twin brother Apollo were born on the island of Delos, the offspring of Jupiter and Latona. Joining forces with Egeria, the water nymph who served as her midwife, and Virbius, the woodland god, Diana formed a powerful triad that protected the natural world.
