Dial Indicator Mount for TAZ 5
thingiverse
This bracket clicks securely onto the print head so a dial indicator can be easily placed to level the bed. The dial indicator used here was bought at Harbor Freight and Tools. Instructions This dial indicator mount works by clicking over the print head. With this mount, you don't have to remove the print head to level the bed. However, since the indicator location is displaced from the print nozzle, you can't get to all of the corners of the bed. Two tabs on top of the mount slide into the notches at the top of the print head. Notice there's a notch for the bolt coming out of the printer and there are two-step clips at the bottom (be careful that the right ledge is to the left of the body of the print head on the bottom right edge). The dial indicator stays in place with a bolt. After the dial indicator is attached, home the Z-axis and move the print head to four corners. Adjust the bed so there's minimal height variation between points. I was able to get my bed down to within 5/1000". This mount was printed using Cura. Before printing, make sure to turn the object on the X-axis (green) and lay it flat to reduce overhanging sections.
