thingiverse
Calibrate your RepRap or other 3D printer's X, Y, and Z motion with a dial indicator to achieve 0.01mm precision in just a few steps. First, purchase an affordable dial indicator from Harbor Freight (useful for various tasks). Next, print the mount part, clean it up, and drill as instructed in the PDF. Attach the mount to the dial indicator using provided hardware. Then, mount the assembly on your printer's guide rod, turn on the indicator, move the carriage until it compresses the pin, press zero, and measure 20mm travel. If not exact, recalculate steps/mm using the formula provided and recompile firmware. Repeat for each axis to achieve a perfectly calibrated printer.
