Mount a dial indicator into a quick-change tool holder by following these simple steps: Mount the indicator in the tool holder without needing a magnetic base attached to your lathe. The holder fits a standard round dial indicator with a 1/4" x 1" lug on the back. Place the tool holder on your lathe's center line only once and you'll be able to easily center things in your four-jaw chuck. Set up the instructions for printing by ensuring they're printed fairly solid. I printed mine in ABS at 90% infill. The dial indicator fits into the rectangular hole and a 1/4" bolt secures it in place. Use a 1/4"-20 screw that's 1/2" long to do so; no nut is required. After mounting, insert the holder into your quick-change tooling just like any cutting tool. Set the height of the indicator piston to your lathe's center line for precise measurements. The holder measures .42" tall and 3" long. This extra length provides flexibility in using it on small 7x mini lathes without restricting cross-slide travel. This fits into my A2Z quick-change toolholders and should fit easily into larger holders as well. The Sketchup model is included for further modifications or duplication.
