Various dial indicator bracket designs exist, but this particular bracket simplifies attaching a dial indicator onto parallel X-axis rods. Its sliding feature makes it easy to move sideways, while its Z-axis repeatability is impressive. The calibrated dial indicates measurements in 0.001" increments with a high level of accuracy. Considering the diverse printer setups and rod spacing, an OpenSCAD file is provided for adaptation, courtesy of Tim Deagan on Printrbottalk.com. Printed using Taulman 645 nylon at 100% infill, this dial indicator bracket should work with most plastics. A separate wedge piece tightens the setup to eliminate play or wobble. If your dial indicator's mounting bracket is oriented differently, simply remove four screws on its back and rotate the back plate accordingly.
