Dial Indicator Cradle #1

Dial Indicator Cradle #1

thingiverse

This cradle securely holds dial indicators, engineered to fit seamlessly into a Lista cabinet drawer space typically occupied by a Schaller Bin. A standard mounting tang protrudes from the back of the dial indicator, ensuring stable positioning. Optimized design features numerous openings that minimize material usage and prevent the accumulation of debris. Crafted for compatibility with Federal dial indicators, this cradle may also accommodate other types and brands. However, it's worth noting that Mitutoyo devices feature a unique dial lock screw placement, rendering them incompatible. Additionally, very long stems and protective covers (positioned at 12- and 6-o'clock) might protrude. These storage solutions were created using PETG, but any material would suffice. The vibrant red hue matches the color of Schaller Bins, visible in the top-left corner of the first image. Printed on a Lulzbot with a 0.8mm nozzle and 0.5mm layer heights, these cradles showcase impressive precision. A keen eye will notice that one cradle appears different between the initial and subsequent photos. This prototype underwent improvements to enhance its design. Originally designed in inches, this cradle measures 2.5 x 4.0 x 2.25 inches overall.
