Dial Indicator carriage for Replicator / 2
thingiverse
This project features a dial indicator support that ensures stability and accuracy through the use of roller bearings and hold-down magnets. The simple tramming coupler magnetically connects the carriage with the extruder, offering correct lateral offsets for both modified and unmodified Replicator extruders. Full design files are provided in Rhino3D and STEP formats, with an updated carriage date of Aug 13, 2013. The Mitutoyo 543-683 dial indicator is a common choice for managing build platform levels and checking the condition of the build plate. To provide the smoothest tramming, this design utilizes small bearings and magnets to ensure consistent contact between the carriage and extruder rails. Additionally, a connecting arm magnetically couples the dial indicator carriage with the extruder head for accurate tracking, featuring insets that accommodate both modified and unmodified Makerbot Replicators. The required materials include 4 x 12mm OD, 8mm ID, 3.5mm depth bearings, 1 x 12mm OD, 6mm ID, 4mm depth bearing, 8 x rare earth magnets (6mm x 2mm), and a Mitutoyo 543-683 dial indicator. Rhino3D and STEP CAD files are included in the downloadable materials for customization options. This design delivers repeatable absolute readings from use to use, ensuring accuracy and precision in your projects.
