Dial indicator bracket for Prusa i3
thingiverse
I printed the original remix inspiration from Thingiverse (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:41090), but it didn't fit my printer perfectly. I really liked the idea though, so I created a custom version for my Prusa i3. This one can use two different sizes of "pins" from the dial indicator (9.5mm and 8mm). I used it to level the print bed, of course, but also brought both sides of the Z axis to exactly the same distance to the Y axis rods. This resulted in smoother operation of the Z axis and more reliable prints. I attempted using it to dial the Y axis exactly square to the X axis, but that was pointless. My printer has an acrylic frame, and I can easily flex the Y axis rods by just pushing a bit on them. Dialing this perfect would be ruined right after moving the printer just a notch or bumping it slightly. This bracket could be used to dial the Y axis square to the X axis if you want to try, though. It snaps in place and has a little tab on the nose that makes it easy to remove. Print Settings: Printer: Prusa i3 with an acrylic frame Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.2mm Infill: 30%
