Dial Gauge Holder

Dial Gauge Holder

To enhance leveling, a cost-effective Harbor Freight dial gauge is placed on the MakerBot Thing-O-Matic's Z platform. By doing this, I achieved a remarkable squaring of the platform within an accuracy range of 0.025 mm (or 0.001"). This precision is deemed satisfactory for my purposes. To implement, use Multiply Print 2 and slide the dial gauge onto the Z platform with its flat sides facing downwards. Lower the Z until it lightly touches the gauge and zero it at the lowest corner of the platform. Mount the gauge on the Z axis and adjust the platform by jogging it until all four corners are squared with the print head.
