Dial Caliper Bed Mount
thingiverse
I'm at MS&T, and I realized that opening a drawer takes an eternity. So, I created a mount to ensure my trusty dial caliper is always within reach without having to open a drawer. How I Designed This Mount Steps: Step 1: Measure the bed's bar carefully; it turns out to be 3.6 inches long. Step 2: Craft a rectangle with two arcs perpendicular to it and extrude it to the desired width of the inner slot plus 1/8th of an inch (or twice as thick as you want the slot's walls to be). Step 3: Create the slots by doing a symmetric extrusion followed by a symmetric cut. Step 4: Add a fillet so the mount will naturally fit into the slot even if it's not placed perfectly.
