Kris Pursiainen, a Bergen County Academies student from Hackensack, New Jersey under the guidance of advising instructor Mr. DeFalco, has designed an innovative solution to address the concerns of Type 1 Diabetes patients. The 1.25 million Americans suffering from this condition require regular blood sugar checks, and often use cumbersome carriers for their equipment. Recognizing this need, Kris created a compact 3D-printed carrier that's uncrushable and protects the expensive equipment. This design, made using FDM technology and PLA plastic, can significantly save users from frequent replacement expenses. Despite some limitations in file conversion, Kris' invention has global potential to improve the lives of Type 1 Diabetes patients worldwide.
