DiA Universal antenna mount (UAM)
thingiverse
After numerous iterations of designing frames and considering various ideas, a persistent problem became evident. The rear part of the frame's top plate was prone to annoying issues - holes or cracks that compromised its functionality. What if we could create a simple, minimalist design that becomes the standard for everyone? A universal solution that can be adapted by anyone? Here is my proposal: A single central slot, precisely designed to accommodate an SMA plug. Two side holes are 3mm wide and approximately 5mm long, allowing users to secure their components using M3 bolts or zip ties. For reference, the following images demonstrate these features: The use of this mounting method is now less recommended due to its tendency to break in crashes. However, alternative bolting solutions can be used instead. A more practical approach is to utilize a clip-on antenna mount printed from 98A TPU. This design features an angled hole at 45 degrees and a small crack on the bottom side, making it easy to attach to the antenna's rod. Here's what this looks like: The open-source Fusion360 file *DiA Universal antenna mount.f3d* allows users to modify and create their own custom mounts. Key parameters for adjusting the top plate thickness and desired mount thickness are already included in the file. Several examples of mounts based on this standard can be found here: Additionally, some quad frames that incorporate the UAM slot include: The Emodia modular quad frame and the DiA Anticrime v3 LR HD quad are two notable examples.
