Dewalt Lithium 20VMax to RYOBI One+ 18 volt Adapter
thingiverse
Due to my extensive experience with using DeWalt cordless tools, I have created an adapter that makes it easy to utilize a DeWalt 20v Lithium Ion Battery with my 18v RYOBI One+ Hedge Trimmer. Updated 18V Top STL To Version 3 - April 21, 2018 After further refining the design of the 18V Ryobi tool top STL, I made significant improvements to its performance. Specifically, I repositioned the contact points on the Ryobi tool upward to ensure a secure connection is established every time. I also reduced the interior dimensions of the part to make it even thinner and more efficient to assemble. Major Update Updated To Version 2 - March 23, 2018 (ALL STL's Modified) Taking into account valuable feedback from this community and my own practical experience, I made crucial changes to the adapter. Here are the enhancements: Made the DeWalt battery base slightly wider for better alignment with the Ryobi tool. Moved the terminals' mounting holes on the Dewalt side forward for precise registration with 20v terminals. Increased clearance at the bottom of the clip to allow for easier attachment and detachment of the adapter. Refined the clips' width to compensate for printing tolerances. Extended the distance that the tab on the clip sticks out to firmly hold onto the Ryobi tool. Steepened the angle of the top clip, which should now self-align when installing the adapter. Modified the 18V battery mounting surface to facilitate epoxy attachment of spade connectors. Added a chamfer above the 20V terminals to minimize the risk of hanging up on internal contacts within the Ryobi tool. Eliminated inner rings from the top part of the adapter for simpler assembly. Also, I adjusted some STL files so all parts will lay flat in the correct orientation for printing. All three new versions of the files are incompatible with previous ones. However, they have been thoroughly tested to ensure quality output. Special thanks to everyone who provided valuable feedback and helpful suggestions. Your contributions greatly contributed to this project's success. Please use caution when utilizing this adapter as over-discharging Lithium batteries can be hazardous. Use at your own risk – there is a significant chance of Fire or Explosion. Caution: DeWalt Tools have internal battery protection circuits; the user must avoid under-charging to prevent battery malfunction. Printer Settings: - Printer: Makergear M2 - Rafts: Not Necessary - Supports: Recommended - Resolution: 0.2mm - Infill: At least 50% - Notes: Support structures are essential for printing upside-down; this was done intentionally to simplify the design. Assembly Process Once assembled, the contacts should be attached with blue automotive spade terminals. Please ensure the terminals on top (18V connections) have their insulators removed before assembly. Wires need to be soldered due to deformation during crimping. Additional machine screws will help complete the assembly process, providing stability and ensuring all parts work in harmony.
