Dewalt Impact Ready Socket Holder
thingiverse
I recently purchased the DEWALT DWA2T35IR Impact Ready FlexTorq Screw Driving Set, 35-Piece. It came with a case that included normal inserts for all screwdriver heads except for the Impact Ready Sockets. These sockets came in a plastic holder that didn't hold up well. This piece is designed to fit four specific sockets from the set: 9/16", 1/2", 7/16", and 3/8". The slots on this item were made specifically for these sizes, so you may need to use it in other Dewalt cases of the same size if you want to accommodate different socket sizes. I originally planned to print this piece out of TPU because the normal Dewalt inserts are made of flexible rubber or plastic. However, I didn't have enough TPU for the print, so I used eSUN PLA+ Pro instead. The fit is tight, but that also helps keep it from falling out. If I get more TPU in the future, I'll reprint it and upload pictures. I've included the Fusion360 and other formatted source files for you to modify or resize the socket size as needed. Here are some notes if you decide to change the socket size: The 9/16" socket had an outer diameter of approximately 19.85mm. To give space and account for shrinkage, I used a width of 21mm. You may need to redistribute the separation lines and outer edges depending on the sizes you use. Set your rectangle to the needed width, and the height should be the same. Cut down 12mm from the top or bottom edge, then fillet the edges until they are perfectly round (use 10.5mm fillets for a 21mm width). Place the tabs 10mm up from the top or bottom edges, with dimensions of 4mm x 0.75mm. Extrude them down about 2.5mm and use the draft function to set the angle. The fillets around the edges and tabs may not be necessary, but I prefer designs that way. I've left the sketches for you to review (I make no promises they're clean or make perfect sense). After publishing, I experienced a small issue closing the case. You have two options: apply extra force to get it set lower in the case, or rearrange the other side of the case. The yellow inserts pop out easily, so swap the screwdriver heads for the other attachments. These other attachments sit higher, so the sockets can press against them and make it slightly harder to close. Cheers!
