Dewalt DW611 Super-PID Tachometer Holder
thingiverse
I use a DeWalt DW611 Router as a spindle on my Shapeoko 3 and also utilize a Super-PID controller to regulate the speed of the router. The Super-PID controller demands an IR Tachometer be mounted in such a way that it can see the spindle, which must be painted half white to offer the rotational rate. Many methods exist to mount the probe, this is one approach. Following rewiring of the router's internals for use with the Super-PID, a considerable cavity remains where the power switch once resided, providing effortless access to the top of the spindle. In the initial photograph, you can observe the spindle painted white. This piece fits snugly into the cavity forming a friction-fit and allows the IR probe to be inserted to see the painted spindle. A dab of hot glue secures the probe at the correct distance from the spindle, approximately 2 millimeters.
