I've seen the target slip out of one or both metal guides several times and/or found myself with the machine in my hand, but the guides are no longer in their tracks. These falls have caused me to break several piercing targets. As a result, I remade the object by adding a thread to the target and adding a high-tapped screw cap on top of at least one of the metal guides. We end up with an assembly where all the parts are solidly connected. It is necessary to tap both guides with an M8-1.25 tap over 15mm from the bottom so that it fits with the target, and also tap one or both for inserting the two high caps.
