DEWALT AirTag holder
thingiverse
I was looking for an alternative to the DeWalt tool connect, and realized that I had an unused Apple AirTag, so I decided to create a semi-rugged system to add an Apple AirTag to my tools. It's very easy for me to misplace my tools, so this makes it easy to find them - even in a toolbox! There are three objectives with this print, to make it rugged enough to be knocked around, thin enough to allow for the AirTag to connect to nearby iPhones, and slim enough to not add too much extra bulk. This is working with all of my 20V drills, flashlights, and 20v tools with the accessory slot. This build is made of three pieces, but can be printed as two pieces potentially: Part A: This is the adapter with “teeth” that fit the DeWalt hole patterns for Drills and other tools Part B: This is the base for the AirTag and can be fasted to the drill using a M3 x 16mm bolt Part C: The AirTag Cap Assembly, if you want to combine part 1 & 2 into one print then ignore step 1: 1) Super glue part 1 & 2 together and press together (if you aren’t printing as a single piece) 2) Insert an M3 insert/embedded nut either through heat or by pressing it into the hole - the hole is 11mm deep. You might have to drill out a bit of material to make things fit 3) Fasten the top plate with a M3 bolt (size can vary - recommend either an 8mm or a 10mm). If you want extra “security” use M3 security torx. A V2 is in the works, to streamline things and to add some additional functionality to the design.
