Devo Energy Dome

Devo Energy Dome

This is a Devo Energy Dome! Based on principles known to the ancient Mayans, its stepped, ziggurat form focuses the Chi energy of the universe into the user's brain and creates a perfect synergy between the left and right hemispheres. It was this harmony between the rational and artistic minds that allowed Devo to create their awesome hits in the 80's. At full size (9.5" diameter) this is a big print. It took about 24 hours on my delta printer and used about 16m of filament. The print is self supporting when printed in the normal way. The inside of the dome has sloped walls that support the horizontal steps sections. I printed mine with a raft because the bottom edge of the dome is quite thin and you want to make sure the dome stays adhered to the bed throughout the long print process. The typical human head is more elliptical than circular. A couple of strips of squishable rubber foam on the inside of the hat allow it to be jammed onto the wearers skull. With this precaution the dome will stay firmly in place during episodes of vigorous whipping. The design is parametric and can be adjusted to match individual requirements. Note: This is not OpenSCAD. It's a program written in Go. The main library and code examples can be found here: https://github.com/deadsy/sdfx About Go: https://golang.org/
