Deus 2 Remote Case Remix #3
thingiverse
This Deus 2 Remote Case is a remix of https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5491082 and https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5915012. In this version the stub used to mount the case onto the Deus shaft is printed as a separate item and is attached to the body with screws and hex nuts. Since the stub no longer requires support during printing, the dimensions and surface quality of the stub are much improved, especially when printing difficult materials such as nylon. Print with wall, top and bottom thickness of 1.6 mm or greater to provide maximum strength where the stub is connected to the body. Print the body with a brim on the outside. The small strip in the slot at the bottom of the body prevents a brim from being printed on the inside when CURA is set to “brim only on outside”. The strip can be removed after printing. If the antenna is to be installed inside the Deus shaft, print “bottom for internal antenna” and the antenna will be completely enclosed. If the antenna is to be wrapped around the Deus shaft, print “bottom for external antenna”. Installation of the left-hand stub or right-hand stub will cause the Deus display to be angled towards the user’s face. The standard stub keeps the display aligned with the Deus shaft. The top with the extended shield is used to protect the headphone connector when wired headphones are used. The top is attached using an M3 x 30 mm screw or with a thumbscrew made by gluing an M3 x 40 mm screw into the knob. An M3 x 5 mm OD threaded insert is glued with epoxy into the body where the top is attached. The bottom is attached using M3 x 6 mm screws. M3 x 5 mm OD threaded inserts are glued with epoxy into the body where the bottom is attached. The stub is attached using M3 x 10 mm screws. M3 hex nuts are inserted into the body where the stub is attached. Hex nuts with nylon locking inserts are preferred. The case is attached to the Deus shaft using either M3 x 6 mm sheet metal screws or M3 x 8 mm sheet metal screws with washers. Screws of this length will not penetrate the hole in the stub thus avoiding possible damage to the antenna. The case can also be assembled without the threaded inserts and hex nuts listed above. The “alternate body” has small pilot holes for M3 sheet metal or self-threading screws. This is a simpler but less durable method.
