Detailed Millenium Falcon Remix
thingiverse
I've managed to get the Falcon created by Jace printed, but I'm not sure why - possibly due to its massive file size of 103MB. It's not showing up in the preview images, however it should be listed in the file list. I'll update this with full information later as time is limited right now. This print is far from perfect, but I've included new parts that should help overcome issues you may encounter printing this model at such a large scale - see 'Comments' for more details. As shown by other photos, it's now possible to print this model. Big thanks go out to Jace1969 for making this possible. I printed it using my Prusa i3 Mk3 printer. If your printer isn't great at printing at this scale, you can probably get a good result by slicing the model in half and printing each half at a larger scale, then gluing them together diagonally across your plate. Printing vertically with supports will give the best results if you choose the small version. However, if you go large and slice the model in half, you might not need supports at all. You'll probably lose some detail when removing supports if you use them, as I did. But it's not a major issue. Tip: For Sci-Fi models, I always use very light grey filament. If you use white, you'll have to spend hours adding 'washes' to make them look even vaguely realistic and dirty. All colors are achieved using my kids felt tip pens. For weathering, I splurged on a tiny pot of Dark Grey acrylic model paint - I diluted it to almost nothing and did one super diluted wash and a slightly stronger grey for the oily/dirty patches.
