The Buckley Class Destroyer Escorts were a series of ships constructed between 1943 and 1944 to serve the war effort during World War II. Compared to fleet destroyer classes, these ships had limitations - smaller size, slower speed, limited range, yet they offered significant advantages - easier to crew, less costly, quicker to assemble, and more agile in maneuvering. Over 150 of these vessels were built for use in the US Navy or British Navy as Captain Class Frigates.
