Destiny - Fallen Walker Tank
thingiverse
This game rip originates from Destiny 2, and special thanks are in order for Coverop from the Destiny Model Rips discord who extracted the model. Extracting this print-ready model was a challenging task that involved restoring details handled by normal maps in the game, such as cabling and vents. Once I focused on the work, it progressed smoothly. I have loved the look of this model for a long time, even before playing Destiny. It still looks impressive and will make an excellent addition to any model collection on your desktop or shelf, regardless of whether you play the game. The model comes in 25 pieces that require some assembly, but not much; everything fits together perfectly except for a few parts that need glue: the rear hatch, the belly plate, and possibly the leg plating. The scaffolding should already be optimally oriented for printing, but be cautious when removing it from smaller parts like the forward manipulator arms or the spikes/sensor package on the front of the head. Those broke when I tried removing them from my first print. Be careful handling the spikes on the main body both during cleanup and when attaching the legs and turret; I didn't break any of mine, but that was because I handled it carefully. The legs will need some working to fit into their sockets, but once they're in, they should stay snug and tight. I didn't need any sanding for mine, although I initially thought I would. The cannon barrel should also fit into its socket without any touch-up, though it was a very tight fit that may depend on the material you're printing with (I'm using PLA). The same goes for the turret fitting into the tank hull. The leg plating is the trickiest part to put on and may need glue; they were intended to just slot on but the scale I printed off made that not completely feasible, so finish and paint before attaching them (ideally with some glue).
