Destination Moon

This is a revised depiction of the spaceship from the Film "Destination Moon," an old favorite that's based on Robert A. Heinlein's novel. I've loaded a separate file just for the footpads themselves, which tend to get dislodged easily. Simply flip them over so they're standing upright on their supports and print along with raft and support structures, eliminating the problem entirely! The model consists of 2 shells with a layer height of 0.2 and an operating temperature of 215 degrees Celsius when printed on my Replicator2 using Standard profile settings. When printing with a raft for "nozzle & pads," you'll find that the footpads come out right on their tips, no supports needed! You're never required to print any supports when working with this particular design, especially not if you choose to incorporate a raft into your project. In my own practice, I typically rely on a raft for its smooth, premium surface finishes – an invaluable trait of the Replicator's Blue Tape setting. Not only does this approach offer me a crisper underside finish, it also simplifies removing my prints from the print bed significantly, ultimately revealing surfaces remarkably close to that glossy top result you'd achieve if not using any kind of support structure at all! Here is a detailed overview for your perusal: * DM_Nose 221g 2 hours * DM_Body 13g 1.25 hours * DM_Wings 24g 2 hours * DM_W-tips 3g 0.25 hours DM_Nozzle & pads 3g 0.25 hours
