Recently, I was pondering the possibility of merging two low-cost soldering irons to create a pair of desoldering tweezers - an indispensable tool for removing SMD components with dual leads such as resistors, capacitors, LEDs, and more. Then I stumbled upon this article on Hackaday: http://hackaday.com/2016/12/07/turn-cheap-usb-soldering-irons-in-to-tweezers/. How fascinating - I wasn't even aware that USB soldering irons existed! At $9 each from Amazon, plus another $11 for a dual-outlet USB charger, this is an unbeatable deal considering how expensive "genuine" desoldering tweezers can be. (Product links below.) In that project, they mention seeking a part that can be printed on FFF machines without requiring support material. So I designed one. It doesn't necessitate any modifications to the irons and serves as a stand since the tips won't touch the table.
