Desktop Sword
thingiverse
For display on your desk or shelf, I proudly present a sword and scabbard. The sword assembles just like a real sword would (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=snqNl6U2OLE). You'll also find a template for the tsuba, allowing skilled crafters to create even more elaborate designs. Tight tolerances are built into this model, requiring some sanding to ensure a perfect fit. This is a long design, so you'll need to use mesh mixer or netfab to break it down into manageable pieces that your printer can handle. I used shoelaces for the knots and consulted YouTube tutorials on how to tie them securely. Post-Printing Instructions: Assembly begins with all parts sliding onto the handle end. The Habaki goes on first, its notch aligning perfectly with the blade's sharp edge as seen in the video. Next, slide the tsuba onto the handle, ensuring the thicker edge faces toward the sharp edge of the blade (check the video for a clear demonstration). The handle follows suit, sliding onto the assembly with its thicker edge oriented toward the sharp edge of the blade. Cap off the handle with the kashira, then secure everything in place with pins.
