I revised the original a bit to make it more printable, splitting it into 4 plates that can be easily printed. I used ABS for printing, which gave me a solid base. To add some finishing touches, I incorporated small bearings as covers, as they looked better than any other option. Next up is updating the GitHub version: https://github.com/glennswest/filamentholder This filament spool holder is designed specifically for desktop use. Initially, I took a design from http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:272532 and adjusted its height to fit my needs. The result was a black ABS print that looked sleek. To assemble this holder, you'll need to print 4 separate plates - plate1.stl, plate2.stl, plate3.stl, and plate4.stl. Using a drill, create m3 holes for each part. Make sure the m3 screws are tightened snugly, as specified in the instructions. Here's what you'll need: - 14 m3x10 screws (I used these) - 4 #608 Skate bearings To put everything together, slide the bearings onto the posts and use either printed caps or small bearings to keep them in place. Secure the bearings with m3 screws and attach the frame using more m3 screws.
