Desktop Spinning Water Fountain

thingiverse

This is a custom-built desktop water fountain inspired by PrinterJay's Table Fountain design. After being sparked by his creation, I decided to create my own spinning fountain. I borrowed the fundamental concept and waterslide idea from his design (check it out!). The rest of it was entirely built from scratch. A note: when turning this on or off, a small amount of water may spill over the side due to pressure changes in both models. To prevent this, you can modify the outside walls of the Cup Top files by increasing their height. Normal size dimensions are 104mm x 104mm x approximately 190mm. Large size dimensions are 167.5mm x 167.5mm x approximately 265mm. I use a different pump in my design because the one listed is not available for purchase in the US. You can find the alternative I used here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078XQ3FCL/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. Check out the print settings and post-print instructions to successfully make this project. Additionally, you will need superglue (I used CA glue), a standard skateboard bearing (8mm core, 22mm X 7mm), and hot glue or similar to seal any gaps – see the post-print section for details. My original fountain was printed in PLA plastic but required significant use of glue to make it watertight. You may find it beneficial to print in ABS plastic instead and then apply an acetone vapor treatment to seal the prints. This is just a suggestion, as I have not personally tried this method. Update: If excessive water is spilling out, try increasing the flow rate of the water pump by one or two notches.
