Desktop Spinning Water Fountain
myminifactory
I created this desktop water fountain after being inspired by PrinterJay's Table Fountain on Thingiverse. I wanted to design a fountain that would spin, so I set out to create my own from scratch, borrowing only the basic design idea and waterslides from his original design. (Check out his innovative work!). The rest of it was entirely new. When turning the fountain on or off, some water may spill over the side, as it did with both models. To prevent this issue, you can adjust the outside walls of the Cup Top files to add extra protection. The normal size of my design is 104mm x 104mm x ~190mm, while the large version measures 167.5mm x 167.5mm x ~265mm. I chose a different pump than PrinterJay's because the one he recommended was not available for purchase in the US. You can find the pump I used here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078XQ3FCL/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 To bring your fountain to life, refer to the print settings and post-print sections for essential instructions. Additionally, you will need superglue (I used CA glue), a standard skateboard bearing (8mm core, 22mm X 7mm), and hot glue or similar to seal a hole - see the post-print section. I made my fountain using PLA plastic, but I had to use a significant amount of glue to ensure the prints were watertight. Printing in ABS plastic and acetone vapor treating the parts might be an effective solution to this problem; however, I have not tried it myself. Here's a GIF of the fountain in action: Update: If you find that too much water is spilling out, try increasing the flow rate of the water pump by one or two notches.
