Desktop Organizer Project
thingiverse
For my end-of-semester projects, I task my students with designing a desktop organizer using Autodesk Inventor. My primary goal for all the projects I assign is to have my students create a product with practical application. I aim to steer clear of frivolous novelties if possible. It was exhilarating to see my students develop genuine enthusiasm for creating this project. They were all intensely focused on achieving accurate measurements while taking into account 3D printer tolerances. I was extremely satisfied with the overall outcome. The comprehensive project guidelines can be accessed here: DesktopOrganizerProject.pdf Instructions: A word of caution is in order: These projects required, on average, around 15 hours per student, which translates to a total of approximately 150 hours for all 10 students. Scaling this project down would likely yield better results. I've uploaded several source files so you can glimpse how my students navigated the design process.
