The purpose for the object was originally just to hold pencils. BUT I added 4 slots in the middle of the objects so it can hold more than just pencils. It can hold markers, pens, paper clips, whatever. I also added to the side a slot where you can put a cap eraser. So If you are at your desk taking notes you can simply grab whatever you need out of the object.
