Desktop Organizer Challenge
thingiverse
This 3D model is designed to sit on a desk, typically against a wall or in a corner, but doesn't necessarily have to be up against a wall. During the recent pandemic, I have often encountered problems with maintaining a clean work environment and, frankly, being bored of the same routine every day. With this desktop organizer, I planned on solving both of these problems. By both organizing my various clutter and changing things up with this design. I went with an unorganized organizer-type model, it has many compartments, pencil storage, folder holder and even a place for a USB chord to go. While designing this I had trouble with the size, I used Tinkercad and previously thought it has to remain within the borders of the plate, but after experimenting, I found my problem to be of no issue. If I were to redesign this, I would change how it is designed, modular so it doesn't have to all be printed out for one static design. Being able to do testing would also help strengthen my design, being able to test the structure and know the limits of strength the plastic has. I have always wanted a 3D printer, being able to print out my design would help me design it because then I can then physically see what is wrong and come up with creative solutions to the said problems. I've always been fascinated by robotics and learning how to and having the means of printing out parts to build a robot is just one of the coolest things.
