The purpose of this design is to help create a helpful learning atmosphere for students, whether they are in school or at home due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This design will promote student learning by providing space to keep track of classes and organizing their materials. The slots with the classes on them are used to stay on top of work, by flipping a pencil eraser up if the class is done, or writing side up if the class is not finished yet. This will help students visually see what classes they have completed, and the ones they still need to complete. This design also allows for a sticky note holder, a earbud wrapping area (on the side), and extra space for any other ideas that a student might need in a pandemic learning situation. 1. One issue that I came across during distance learning, is staying on top of classes. Rather than being assigned work one assignment at a time in school, every teacher would post an assignment at the same time, making it easy to forget one. Another issue I came against was that I always found myself constantly writing little sticky notes of reminders, on when classes met, and what assignments I had. Finally, I have siblings, so finding a quiet and relaxing place to work with everyone home was difficult, and is why I created a simple and easily transportable design. 2. If I could redesign this again, I would change my design to be a little more printable with a 3D printer, because 3D printing is a great way to produce a design like this. I would also try to come up with a more efficient way to keep track of classes, and try to maximize the use out of a small space. 3. I could strengthen my design with 3D printing by being able to test the 3D printability of the design, as well as how easily it can be mass produced. It would also give me a sense of how much material is needed to produce the item. It would also help create a prototype of the design, and let others test it, so I can get feedback from other people as well as some problems that they faced. I would then take my feedback and be able to redesign and strengthen my original design to help students learn. P.S. The front of the design shows the classes vertically, meaning that the design needs to be rotated so that one of the large blank sides is the base.
