Project Statement: By designing this desk organizer, I wanted to create something that anyone can put on a desk and it can be next to them and within reach if they wanted anything like pencils or pens. In other words, students can all their art supplies, pens or pencils or anything that they use for a school at their fingertips so that they don't have to miss any moment of class trying to dig through drawers or piles of stuff to find paint or a red crayon. 1. One of the issues that I came up against was the size of organizer and how many cans to put on it. I did not want it to be too big because then it would take up to much space and then that would be counterproductive to what my purpose was. Also, the number of cans that had to placed for the design was tricky because I don't want too many cans, because they would mess up in the 3D printing. In other words, I needed to find a way to balance the can to organizer ratio, so that was a challenge. 2. If I could redesign this, I would customize it more to the customer that will be using it and what they want to put in those cans, instead of it being more uniform. 3. 3D printing really would help my design, because using actually cans, can be dangerous because of their sharp edges. Additionally, I can play around with the dimensions, colors and looks of organizer, whereas if I tried to buy this stuff, I would be stuck with the dimensions set by their respective manufacturers.
