Desk Grommet Speaker Stand for Mackie CR-4
thingiverse
What is this? ------------------ My desk has two "3-inch" (measures ~3.15" or just over 80mm) grommet holes with matching power plug fittings. To keep horizontal space free, I decided I want to mount my speakers above it, without resorting to clamp-mounted stands. This design moves the outlets to a forward-facing position and provides a place for my speakers to sit on top. I've also added some holes in the back for ziptie cable management. The opening on the back is there so I could install it without pulling the wires out of the desk, so I didn't have to undo my cable management down there. I've created this in two parts to avoid the need for any supports. _______________________________________________________________________ Post-Processing ----------------------- Take a deburring tool or something similar to clean up any edges that will be touching wires. Super glue the two parts together (see pic for how they fit, but it's pretty obvious). I added some electrical tape to the hole where the power outlets go in order to have a tighter fit as well as add friction so it doesn't come out when I unplug something. You also have the option to glue the outlets in place but I didn't want to do that. ________________________________________________________________________
