I really like the Nucleo-64 and Nucleo-144 boards. They have Cortex-M 32 bit processors on them, are supported by a wide variety of development environments (gcc, mbed, Etc.) and with an Arduino compatible set of connectors, many Arduino shields can be used with them.

The only down side is that the pins on the board can get shorted out by stuff on your bench if you are not careful. These boards don't have “feet” or anything to hold them off the ground so to speak and a couple of times that led to me “debugging” problems which were simply a bit of clipped off component lead holding a signal line grounded.

There are “mounting” holes in the board, but they are in weird places (presumably where they would fit) but it turns out that both the -64 and -144 Nucleo share three mounting holes so one fixture will hold either version of the board. The tradeoff is you get more overhang when you put the -64 board on the holder but it is certainly manageable.

Printing this in PLA is best, as it doesn't need to be that durable and things like ABS really want to curl off the print bed when you print large flat areas.

Note that one of the posts has a pin sticking up, so when you put that one through the correct hole on the Nucleo board, you can rotate the board until the other holes line up.

The holes on the ends of the post are sized for an M3 or #4-40 machine screw. They will self tap into the plastic and, if you are careful not to over tighten them, they will hold very securely.

Another feature is that you can use double sided tape to attach this mount to the inside of an enclosure and voila' you have a stable way to keep your board from moving round inside!
