Revolver 3D Scan Captured by Capture Using Autodesk Remake. This revolver was captured in three-dimensional detail using photogrammetry software from Autodesk Remake. A few things about this item: It sat outside for several weeks, developing a distinctive rust and white patina. 186 photos were taken with a Nikon D3200 camera inside our Tradesbox photostudio. Using embedded mesh editing tools within Remake, we adjusted the mesh to separate the trigger base from the guard and smooth out the grip bottom. Remake automatically corrected the texture with great results. We also sliced the model in Remake to create two halves that aligned perfectly. What are we making with it? We plan to use it as a Virtual Reality asset for some fun, and (B) design an awesome 3D printed holster. This revolver will be incorporated into one of our virtual reality projects, possibly a carnival-style shooter game. Using the 3D model, we'll apply boolean scripts and Fusion 360 to create a custom-fitted 3D printed holster with safety features. This older style revolver lacks a transfer bar, so an intelligent holster should trap the hammer and prevent accidental firing from dropping. We also aim to design the holster as a child-safe gun lock, incorporating a form-fitting hammer and trigger enclosure that prevents unwanted access to the firearm.
