Desiccant drying rack
prusaprinters

Desiccant used to keep filament from absorbing water needs to be ‘recharged’ from time to time. This print is designed to allow a Sunlu filament dryer to be used in this role.

The rack is designed to sit on the foam insulation on either side of the filadryer, rather than the metal at each end, in order to ensure the print remains below the glass transition temperature if using PLA.

To use, simply place the tray in the filadryer, add your desiccant packs, turn on and leave for ~12 hours. You can also monitor the drying progress by weighing the packets before commencing drying. Cheap silica gel packets can absorb ~30%-40% of their weight in water, so a 1g packet should weigh ~1.3-1.4g once it needs to be recharged, and should get back to ~1g (plus the weight of the packet itself) once fully dehydrated.
