Desiccant Container
thingiverse
This is one of my initial projects! I was searching for a desiccant container that would fit snugly into the center of my PLA spools, but couldn't find anything suitable. So, I designed and 3D-printed one, learning some basic Sketchup skills in the process. Clearly, it goes without saying that you'll need to store your spools in airtight containers for this project to be effective. I added plenty of repeating cutout text - please excuse any unusual lettering, as it seemed like an ideal choice for preventing silica gel beads from slipping through; my name starts with G. I've printed this design multiple times, once for each new color of PLA I acquire. The first iteration didn't have enough clearance on the lid portion, and the lids wouldn't stick or would stick too well at times. To address this issue, I added an extra 0.25mm to each gripping side of the snap-on lid in subsequent designs. If your printer consistently prints flawlessly, you might need to scale the cap accordingly. Printer Settings: * Printer Brand: RepRap * Printer Model: Prusa i3 2015 * Rafts: Not Required * Supports: No * Resolution: 0.2 mm * Infill Percentage: 30% * Notes: These are my standard print settings, but feel free to adjust them if you want to improve readability at lower resolutions (such as 0.1mm).
