# Desiccant Box (for Ikea Samla 22l Filament Dry Box) --- ## Introduction My intention for this box was to have something that keeps silica gel inside my Ikea Samla filament dry box but this can of course be used where ever you might need it. I also wanted a box the is easily snapped together and thanks to this great tutorial I managed to get it just perfect: [Fusion 360 Tutorial – Easy Snap Fit Cases!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VVmOtM60VWw) I've supplied two sizes of this box to fit Ikea Samla, 105x148x20 mm and 210x148x20 mm. To fill the bottom of Ikea Samla 22l with boxes you need either 4 of the small ones or two of the larger ones but you can of course have fewer boxes. The Small box can contain roughly 250g of silica gel and the large one the double. --- ##Files Except for standard stl-files I have also attached a step-file and a complete Fusion 360 drawing as an f3d-file so you can easily open it and modify the defined user parameters (Height, Width, Length, Shell, etc.) to get the box in the size you like but I can't guarantee it'll work for any size. Feel free to Remix!!! Available User Parameters in attached Fusion 360 drawing (Small):  --- ## The Mesh - What's so special about it? What's special about this box is that I've used the Modifier functionality of Prusa/Superslicer, to use infill as mesh, removing top and bottom layers of the bottom of both the Case and and the Top Cover parts. This gives a fine mesh where air can easily pass through but the silica gel stays put. See the Step by Step guide below how to slice to get this mesh with Prusa/SuperSlicer. I'm not sure Cura and other slicers can do this (please leave a comment if you know if and how it might be done). --- ## Legs The Case part has built in screw pillars and the hole is about 2.6mm in diameter. There's also a a simple leg attached for the box to come up at bit (10mm) from the surface so that air can pass through from the bottom. I use small countersunk screws with a diameter of 2.85mm (Head 5.3mm). ---
