Deserted Settlement at Polmaddy
sketchfab
The settlement at Polmaddy is situated in Dumfries & Galloway, a short distance from the A713 to the south of Carsphairn. It was first documented in 1505 AD and stands as one of the most well-known examples of a post-medieval Scottish 'ferm toun'. The settlement was abandoned early in the 19th century during the era of improvement when new agricultural techniques and systems compelled the tenants at Polmaddy to seek work in Scotland's larger towns.
