Derreeny (288), Iveragh Peninsula (Co. Kerry)

A small flat rock lies low on a hillside platform, its presence easily overlooked by the untrained eye due to heavy weathering that has worn away many of its carvings. Not far from a much larger boulder, this smaller rock is nestled within a field boundary. The composition features four distinct motifs with concentric circles and numerous cupmarks, some arranged in a linear pattern. This particular rock is identified as number 288 in the archaeological survey "The Iveragh Peninsula" by O'Sullivan and Sheehan, published in Cork, Ireland in 1996.
