Zwönitz Heritage Trail\nThe Rider Without a Head\nIt is said that once upon a time, a Miller in Zwönitz had a beautiful daughter who was engaged to be married to the Forester in Grünhain. The girl had a brother whom her father had disowned, so they could only secretly see each other. One day, the couple had agreed to meet at an inn, where the girl's brother was also expected. She danced with him when her fiancé appeared. He didn't know his sister's brother and was seized by raging jealousy. He lured the girl up to the Goat Mountain and stabbed her. The Forester, who learned from her last words who she had danced with, ended up on the scaffold in Grünhain. Ever since, the rose bush at the scene of the crime appears to be splattered with blood at night. Occasionally, however, a midnight rider arrives, his head under his arm, from the Grünhainer High Court, stays awhile, and then departs again.\nZwönitz Subgroup of the Erzgebirgszweigverein
