Der Dreilagenstein im Streitwald
sketchfab
The legend tells of a dispute over this woodland tract during the Crusades between the Schönburgers on Hartenstein, the Schönbergers at Stollberg and Niederzwönitz, and the Grünhain Abbey. The abbott mediated the dispute and had a "three-layer stone" set up as a boundary marker featuring the coats of arms of the neighboring communities. First documented in 1616, it was considered lost towards the end of the 19th century. Due to its supposed healing properties, it was ground into small pieces as a wonder remedy. Despite years of searching, stone remnants were not discovered until 1990, further ones in 1994. Local researchers, ABM, and surrounding communities ensured its re-erection in 1995.
