DEPRECATED - 90x60 degree horn - elliptical profile with wide radius - 2 bolt 1" compression drivers
thingiverse
Marking this obsolete because it likely requires modifications to function effectively with any mainstream compression driver, due to the throat exit angle being 0 degrees (10 would be more typical for a real bolt on driver, I've since discovered).\r\n\r\nThis elliptical horn/waveguide has a 90x60 degree coverage angle, based roughly on the Sica SSH-1 design found at https://www.amplifiedparts.com/products/horn-sica-1-compression-elliptic. \r\n\r\nI chose this design both because of its elliptical profile and because Sica publishes polar plots for it (see attached PDF). It should have fairly constant directivity between about 1.2-14KHz with some pattern control outside of that range. If anything, my model may outperform Sica's due to the wide radius at the mouth where Sica shows a fairly sharp cutoff.\r\n\r\nThis design differs from Sica's in being designed for 1" bolt-on compression drivers and is made for 3" (76.2mm) spaced bolts. A popular example of a driver my design will fit is B&C's DE250: https://www.parts-express.com/bc-de250-8-1-polyimide-horn-driver-8-ohm-2-3-bolt--294-605.\r\n\r\nCompared to the Sica and other commercially available horns, this design also has a sturdier connection between the compression driver interface and the rest of the horn. This should make the design stable for use with heavier duty compression drivers such as Emilar vintage models, although that remains to be tested.
