Dental impression tray M with higher palate upper. In the picture, the yellow represents this tray, while the blue denotes the standard tray, allowing you to visualize the differences. I've searched extensively for deeper impression trays, only to find that most are designed for individuals with no teeth or an extremely high palate. Regardless of how much agitation I apply, it consistently falls out the back of the tray, rendering it impossible to register my upper palate properly. This is a crucial aspect of denture fitting, as it relies on suction to stay in place. I've also consulted with a professional who specializes in creating dentures and was informed that this issue isn't significant – one simply guesses at the missing part of the form. I strongly disagree; I don't guess when accuracy matters most. To rectify this situation, I've created a tray with a slightly deeper and higher palate to ensure proper registration. Additionally, it features holes to secure alginate to the tray during impression taking and stone removal. If standard trays work for you, I recommend opting for those as they're relatively inexpensive on eBay and require less effort. This custom tray requires sanding to achieve a smooth finish; otherwise, it may cause lip or gum irritation. Fortunately, another similar tray is available online, but it's merely the standard M tray without holes for alginate retention.
